The nitty gritty of shipping pottery online...
Many have told us NOT to ship pottery online. Both cost and carriers seem to be very unsupportive of this as a business model BUT - our loyal customers have offered us so much support and encouragement, truly BEGGING us to ship our goods. We love your enthusiasm for our products that are created with love + intention. We believe our creations are made for connection - so despite the rather challenging dynamics, LET'S DO THIS!
And yes - we have been learning from the best in the industry on how to package our products well, so please have faith that this is launching with great confidence!
Shipping Pricing - what you really need to know!
Please allow time for you order to be shipped and then for transit time. I do not have a warehouse, all of your orders are filled by our family.
If you are attempting to order a piece for a special occasion and have a deadline to receive the item by, PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE ORDERING TO ENSURE WE CAN MEET YOUR NEED.
Each order has a base shipping rate of $16.95, then $3.95 is added per item, beginning with the first item, to create your total.
Feel free to visit the USPS website to see current rates for packages that weigh between 2 and 10 pounds (most common weights I send). While shorter distances from me may have a lower cost, I don’t have a way to adjust for that at this time, so I have to account for the longest distances possible across the country.
The rates I’m charging will just barely cover the actual costs of shipping and materials and don’t even begin to account for the time it takes to pack orders with care!
You can expect:
Base of $16.95 + 1 Item @ $3.95 each = $20.90
Base of $16.95 + 2 Items @ $3.95 each = $23.95
Base of $16.95 + 3 Items @ $3.95 each = $28.80
… and so on.
The real costs of shipping & materials:

Shipping carrier fee: anywhere from $10 - 35 depending on the size, weight and distance (one of the biggest factors) to travel of each box. Most single items (like mugs, tumblers, etc.) have a carrier cost of around $10-14, PLUS I have all the cost incurred for packing each item.

Double-walled box: between $1.95 and $3.10 each, depending on size. Sometimes I use just reinforced versus double-walled boxes, but the double-walled are extremely strong and will resist denting or crushing, so I tend to use them for most multi-item orders.

Dissolvable starch packing peanuts (or similar filler!): ~$1-2 per box to fill properly

Paper wrapping for items & packing inside: ~$.50 - $1 per shipment depending on size and number of items
Those costs still do not include the time/labor it takes for me to pack the order!
Using the proper packing materials and putting effort into how things are packed for shipping breakable ceramic items is critical!

MERCY should an item arrive broken... please contact me immediately with a photograph. Your order will be refunded and we will create a plan for a replacement piece if needed.
